Sit in silence

“Sit in silence. It’s the last thing you want to do when you’re anxious and have so many thoughts, feelings, and emotions racing through your mind and chest but just trust me…. sit in silence. From this place of silence you will recognize the truth of who you are. The answer lies within you if you dig deep enough.”

I swear sometimes this is the hardest thing to do when you’re stressed, anxious, fearful, or even strung out with “happiness”. I say happiness in quotes because often times I find that when your ego is equally as identified with a high state based on the earthly plane that too creates an imbalance which causes a form of anxiety within the body. At least that is what I’ve come to find when my state of happiness is attached to a form of this earthly plane and not from within my deeper self.

So how do I re-center myself and find peace? How do I find the place so deep, yet reachable, within me that cannot be touched from any person, event, or even emotion?

I sit in silence.

In previous years this was so hard for me. I would find every form of distraction before, or even a few minutes into, sitting in silence. “What was that? Did I hear someone at the door? Oh there’s dishes in the sink I better do that so that I can really sit in silence. OH! I forgot to leave out the meat for tomorrow’s meal let me get that from the freezer.”

Yea… all sorts of distractions 🙂

Maybe it’s practice and a little bit of wisdom from trial and error but I find it gets easier to sit in silence these days and lately I’ve been doing a lot of that. I know ultimately it will give me what I need – peace.

It’s easy to find yourself following one thought after another and before you know it you’ve concocted a #1 best seller in the genres of mystery and drama (or maybe romance) 😉

As soon as I find myself identified with a story that is the first clue, “Ahhhh…..ohhhh…. I’m in a story…”, and suddenly I recognize where and what my emotions were tied to.
