Seattle Stress Management Coach, Burnout and Adrenal Fatigue

Taking A Break

Maybe it’s the transition to the holidays, the hour we gained, or simply “end of year” syndrome… and you’re thinking about that long needed alone time. Perhaps a week or long weekend where you do absolutely nothing. Possibly escape to the woods… go on a spa date with just yourself and a good book. But how hard are you on yourself when it comes to taking that much needed break? Do you feel guilty, shame, or anxiety even around taking a break?

Stress Management Coach, Burnout and Adrenal Fatigue

So many people feel that if they miss the notifications, whether from email, text, direct message, social media, or facebook groups, they are missing out on something important.

But if all those things were “important” then where does your sanity rank on the totem pole? Or how about your health, or time with loved ones? Or heck, time alone to truly find your center?

I’ve seen too many people push away the most important thing they need to actually start feeling better, and that’s this – TIME.

And this is where YOU get creative because here’s the thing….

Some people need alone time.

Some people need time with loved ones.

Some people need time to simply PLAY.

Some people need time to meditate through baking, golfing, reading, etc.

Some people need time to organize their life.

But only you know what’s best for YOU.

So if you know deep down you need the time… the break…

Take it.

Don’t let another week or month go by where you push and strain to make it until the weekend.

When you push too hard that’s when you reach burnout or god forbid adrenal fatigue; that’s when other issues start to realize themselves into an overeating or overdrinking problem.

So, don’t be too hard on yourself. Taking the break is an investment and you will reap the benefits ten-fold when you take it at the right time.

Friday Focus – 6/15/18 {How To Get Perspective Immediately}

Now that you know how Thought Management works at a high level and you understand just how powerful our brains are, you need to put it all into practice. This means getting to know your inner world – A LOT.

  • Understanding your bodily reactions to emotions
  • Fully feeling a feeling all the way through (approximately 90 seconds)
  • Noticing every thought
  • Restructuring non-serving thoughts

Warning: there will be those times when a situation seems extra sticky.

How to get perspective immediately

One way to gain perspective immediately when a certain situation is tough is to state out loud: “This thoughts is challenging”.

First, by speaking it out loud we aren’t creating a running loop in our minds. Secondly, when you label a thought as “challenging” you immediately create space between you and the thought – you become the observer.

If you want to up-level your thinking try watching the thought with compassion and curiosity. That’s when the real magic happens.

Thoughts are funny. They mean so much to us and yet they don’t need to mean anything at all. We decide to give one thought much more meaning than another (i.e., I’m not good enough vs. I love my effort), but who’s to really say the negative thought is true? The better question to ask is, “is this serving me?”.

Now I’m curious, what is one way you gain perspective when you need it the most? Share your most helpful tips. You never know who you might impact today 🙂

Friday Focus – 2/23/18 {There’s Nothing To Worry About}

“Your conflicts, all the difficult things, the problematic situations in your life, are not chance or haphazard. They’re actually yours. Their specifically yours, designed specifically for you by a part of you that loves you more than anything else.

The part of you that loves you more than anything else has created roadblocks to lead you to yourself. You’re not going to go in the right direction unless there’s something pricking you on the side telling you, “Look here! This way!”.  That part of you loves you so much that it doesn’t want you to lose the chance.

It will go to extreme measures to wake you up; it will make you suffer greatly if you don’t listen. What else can it do? That’s it’s purpose.”

~A.H. Almass

Every little thing that you worry about has a purpose. Look deep inside the worry and you will realize it is all for your own growth and expansion of your very own heart.

Love is the answer.

What Can Put A Smile On Your Face Today?

Today’s post is short and sweet, and the message is simple:

Do one thing today that makes you happy!

For me lately, it’s taking advantage of this brewy Seattle weather, creating space and personal time to read books on vibrational frequency and quantum physics. It’s quite fascinating and with a side of hot coffee, you just can’t beat it.

So, I’m curious… what’s one thing you can do today that makes you smile?

Maybe it’s helping someone smile themselves, or paying for someone’s parking meter when it’s about to expire, maybe it’s a hot bath, lighting a candle for some much needed quiet time, or writing a love letter to yourself.

Whatever it may be I invite you to reflect and see what comes up for you today. Ask yourself, what would put a smile on my face? What small thing can I do for me today?

And even better… when we can uplift ourselves, we naturally uplift others.

Friday Focus – 7/7/17 {There’s Nothing Wrong With You}

There’s nothing wrong with you

Are your hormones are a bit wonky? Sure
But it doesn’t mean there’s something wrong with you.

Do you feel like crawling under the covers because of a string of bad days? Sure
But it doesn’t mean there’s something wrong with you.

Struggling with a health issue? Sure
But it doesn’t mean there’s something wrong with you.

Dealing with relationship issues that keep coming back? Sure
But it doesn’t mean there’s something wrong with you.

Fighting an intense fear of failure? Sure
But it doesn’t mean there’s something wrong with you.

Experiencing grief that doesn’t seem manageable? Sure
But it doesn’t mean there’s something wrong with you.

Wondering why it feels like it’s taking a million years to achieve X when for others it seems so easy? Sure
But it doesn’t mean there’s something wrong with you.

There’s nothing wrong with you

No matter what is happening in your life just remember this, there is absolutely nothing wrong with you.

Namaste.

Trusting Where You Are

Can you trust you are exactly where you need to be?

When you look back weeks, months, even (especially) years, can you see why things might have happened the way it has?

Can you trust you’ve been led to this place for more growth, wisdom, expanded heart, and love?

And through any present day resistance can you see where this might be leading you?

Can you sense a deeper part of you that might understand where this is going?

Can you have faith in knowing you are one step closer to where you want to be?

Can you feel, or blindly trust, or even desire you are being held ever so gently?

Have you felt love, however small or big in whatever fashion or from, from someone, something, or within YOU throughout your life journey?

If you answered yes to any of the above, can you trust you are exactly where you need to be?

With love.

Friday Focus – 6/9/17 {What Is}

There has certainly been a theme that sticks out for me this week and it is this – being ok with what is and knowing it is unfolding in perfect divine order.

The mind is a slippery one. An innocent thought about one thing leads you down 10 deep rabbit holes until you find yourself in a complex maze of what ifs and one way too many options. And then what? You’re paralyzed. Does anyone feel me on this?!

While it seems healthy and proactive to be solving, thinking, planning… whatever you want to name it, if any of this leaves you with any of the following feelings:

  • angst
  • anxiety
  • tension
  • worry
  • fear
  • generally unsettled

…then we need to hold the phones. ?

The moment any of these feelings start to creep in it’s time to inquire – what am I striving for?

I find that the moment I ask myself this question it all becomes clearer. And while sometimes it may take more time than usual, it always gets clearer.

With clarity comes peace. A knowing that in THIS moment (and the next, and the next, and yes, even the next one :)) I am always held and perfectly where I need to be. Tension would indicate otherwise. Yes?

I find that this is a much more freeing experience than needing to control every outcome…

Namaste.
