What is Now Matters Most

Do not fret about what will be, instead be grateful for the breath you just took, the sunlight hitting your face, and for the fact you have a direct connection to God.

Don’t kill the dream by cutting down the idea with a million questions. Take it one step at a time and follow what brings you joy. We can never forecast what a seed will grow into or who we will meet along the way.

My Top 10 Reasons for Moving the Body

It’s crazy how much we sit all day isn’t it? I don’t know about you but there are times when I get home and notice the pedometer on my device reads something below 700 steps and I literally gasp aloud and then I say something along the lines of, “WOW… I swear I was busy today…”

I’ve always known I do better when I move. Aside from the fact we are primal beings and are meant to move our bodies there’s something to be said about moving the stagnant energy within our bodies too.

I love that there’s practically NO downside of getting outside and moving your body. It goes to show how important it actually is.

Here are my current top 10 reasons for why we should move our body today:

Friday Focus – 11/18/16

As we go into the weekend I though it would be a nice reminder to bring full circle a recurring theme or thought that has been coming up whether through inquiries or observation. After all, Fridays are a bit more relaxed and we tend to lose focus as we go into the weekend with social commitments and errands to run 🙂

This week’s focus is: What your thoughts focus on, EXPANDS.

We talked about Momentum last week and how when we keep the momentum of any thought going it becomes harder and harder to step back from the identification of the story and to stop the feeling(s) that is now contained within the body. It begins to feel real doesn’t it?

Every time you become aware of a certain thought be cognizant of what emotion this thought is bringing. Is it bringing you anxiety? stress? worry? fear? anger? resentment? Remember, these types of emotions are low on the vibrational scale and equally as important, remember the more you think these thoughts the harder it becomes to unravel yourself from the story.

Give Yourself LOVE Today

Sometimes life can be tough. There can be lots of demands whether from work, social engagements, volunteering activities, or the worst of all – self induced demands. The demands to clear your plate, conquer your to do list, or take on that new hobby you’ve been meaning to pursue for the past few months.

Isn’t it funny how often we live in the future? “What do I need to get done?” Or how about the past? “I wonder what happened in my childhood to make me the way I am today…” Our minds are at work and it’s never ending.

In the midst of running errands today I’ve come to the conclusion that MANY spur of the moment acts of “Metta” should be applied. Regardless of whether or not we have these thoughts.

So…Errr.. what is metta?

Living an Uncluttered Life for Inner Peace

When I first moved to San Francisco I only took what I truly needed. And when I say “took” I mean, everything was packed into my car and I still had room to boot. Why? I had no idea whether I’d still want to live in San Francisco in a year and did not want to deal with moving anything to my next destination.

What I didn’t realize by doing this is how much peace I would have in my life.

Once I had unpacked the boxes, all within 1-2 hours, I looked around the space and just smiled. I felt a lightness within myself and particularly within my mind!

What I felt coming home everyday, and knowing exactly where everything was and why, cleared any clutter I had in my head. If you can imagine your brain as a physical space it’s as if 80% of it was now released from unnecessary  items and available for your own inner peace.

I had no idea the release of physical items could have a mental release. WHOOSH. Space. Quietness. Mindfulness.

Unknowingly this started an intenion of living simply.

Series on adrenal fatigue

How I Recovered from Adrenal Fatigue Pt. 2

In an earlier post I talked about what adrenal fatigue is and provided a backstory as to how I was living my life prior to adrenal fatigue. While I thought everything was going well, the ancient wisdom within knew this way of living was unsustainable and untrue to how life is really meant to be lived.

How did I even know I had adrenal fatigue? It was first of all – the fatigue. There was absolutely no energy to do even a 20 minute walk to the nearby park! This drove me insane at the time for someone who was used to being extremely active with daily crossfit workouts and going hiking on the weekends.

What was also debilitating was the deep sense of anxiety that I had. To be honest, whenever the bouts of anxiety occurred I became so scared because I couldn’t recognize myself for feeling so lost, vulnerable, and weak.

Generally experiencing adrenal fatigue made me feel as if I was wiped clean of any power I thought I had and any sense of who I thought I was.

How to Start a Meditation Practice

In an earlier post talking about Momentum we talked about keeping the flow of positivity alive; to catch your seedling thought of worry, anxiety, past, or future when it begins rather than continue to feed it.

Well, I thought I’d share a bit on how I like to meditate in the mornings. This varies by situations but for the most part the framework in which I set up the daily morning meditation is outlined below. I hope this helps to either start or solidify your own meditation practice. 🙂

I tend to meditate in sections. I know sounds weird but it works for me and if you have an analytical, type A personality perhaps this will work for you too. Here’s how…

Momentum

Each day we have the opportunity to start anew.

The moment you wake up to take your first – full – deep – breath just remember your slate is clean. Your mind is a vast, expansive, open canvas. This canvas is bright, immaculate, and has no edges.

Begin your prayer. Meditate. Be full of gratitude for another waking day. Honor yourself to the highest. Understand your mind and body are a temple where only the highest of thoughts should live.

Abraham Hicks speaks of momentum. The moment you have a lower vibrational thought, and the moment you keep feeding this thought is the beginning of momentum. Once this begins it gets harder and harder to get back to higher frequency.

And vice versa! Upon waking linger on the clean slate. Linger on the GRATITUDE. Linger on feeling the positive emotions and thoughts. Keep this momentum going.

So, I’m curious… what are some positive thoughts and/or emotions you focus on to keep the momentum going? 🙂

ॐ Losing the Ego: The Awakening by Eckhart Tolle

The thoughts that go through your mind of course are linked through the collective mind of the culture you live in, the collective whole, they are not your thoughts as such but you pick them up from the collective.

You identify with thinking and the identification of thinking is ego.

Which means simply that you believe what you are thinking.
