Happy NEW Year!

As cliche as it sounds, time seems to FLY BY with greater speed and gusto every single year, and 2017 was no exception.

And knowing that, I plan to love more, live more, laugh more, joy more, peace more with all my heart and every fiber of my being.

2018, I am ready for you.

Wishing you all the same and more.

Friday Focus – 11/3/17 {Time Is Of The Essence}

Only 2 months left in the year… Can you believe it? I sure can’t. It’s as if with every passing year it goes by faster and faster. Makes me recognize, yet again, how precious our life is and how wisely we need to choose how we spend each moment.

This reminds me of something Naval Ravikant once said, (and I’m paraphrasing) “our time on earth is like a blink of a dragonfly”. It’s true, in the grand scheme of the Universe our time is so short and I often ask myself, do my actions reflect this truth?

So for this week’s Friday Focus I wanted to ask another set of powerful questions we can use to reflect on time. Especially since we only have 2 months left in 2017!

Powerful Questions

  • What were some initial goals I had for 2017?
  • With what I’ve learned in the past 10 months, where do these goals fit in to my evolving Purpose?
  • What matters most in my life?
  • How can I spend these next 2 months so that they can be something to remember years from today?
  • What is one special thing I can do for myself and/or others every day?

Go ahead, spend some time for yourself reflecting on these powerful questions and allow your heart to answer these questions. You may notice some new truths that have been brewing within yourself begin to surface, or some overarching themes that consistently come up.

Speaking of time… don’t forget to set your clocks back this weekend. We have an extra hour to make things extra special 🙂

Summer & Questions To Guide Inner Reflection

There’s something about going back home… While I grew up as an army brat with many “homes”, I consider Seoul and Tokyo my old stomping grounds. It’s where I spent more of my formative years.

As I head back to Seoul for a much needed break I can’t help but be thankful for Seattle. Since my re-entry this wonderful city has been a place where I met the most unexpected people; a place where I grew in ways I never thought I would. Guess it goes back to, “You never know what the Universe will provide if you surrender and let go of expectations.”

Seattle Summer Nights

I’m looking forward to this break so that I can spend time with family and old friends. It will also be a time for inner reflection, and I won’t lie… there will be a few meetings sprinkled in here and there but when you put your highest intention in them it doesn’t feel like just a “meeting” if you know what I mean 😉

As we close out this Summer I urge you to take time for inner reflection. While everyone’s questions and time for reflection will be different, here are a few you can use to guide yourself:

  • What have been the consistent themes/thoughts these past 3-4 months?
  • What have I done to take action toward these themes/thoughts?
  • Am I in a place where I am ready to take action?
  • Who or What can help me take action? (i.e., books, meetups, teachers, coaches, etc.)
  • As I prepare for Fall, what do I need to close out to complete Summer?

May these next few weeks be filled with last minute bbqs, more laughter, and time spent with our loved ones.

Namaste,

Susan

Getting Creative With Ceramics

I’ve been writing a lot about creativity and allowing your deeper self to play, have fun, and explore. If you haven’t checked out the 5 days of POWERFUL QUESTIONS do it now! It is all about finding your own creativity and how to show up in this world in our own authentic way.

If you’ve been following along you know one of my biggest and playful outlets has been working with CLAY! Learning from others, making new friends, and most importantly LETTING GO of all expectations has been the **best** part of this Summer’s creative experiment.

I remember the first day I entered the studio I had such a hard time creating pieces. The ideas weren’t flowing. Then, the moment I started creating for others it’s as if my hands couldn’t move faster than the ideas.

(Friends, you know what you’re getting for Christmas right?)

Something else I learned while being in the studio? Detachment. Letting go. Surrendering. Clay is funny, some days you get it right, and other days it decides to break or deform overnight. Allowing what is to just be (yes, even the pieces you lovingly worked on), and enjoying the process is what makes the 3 hours a day not only feel magical but go by **real** fast.

I can’t believe there’s only a few precious weeks left of studio time… and I still have another 25+ pound bag of clay! I am looking forward to deeper play, honoring my creativity, and allowing the magical alchemy of surrender influence the next few pieces. Time to get to WORK!

Powerful Questions Pt. 4

Oftentimes I feel scared. Really scared. And then I realize feeling scared means that I’m taking risks. And risks are so much better than the alternative – staying small, wouldn’t you agree?

With that said Day 4 of POWERFUL QUESTIONS are all around Fear. If I said Risks (Day 3) were one of my favorite topics then Fear has got to be a good second. So here we go:

? What fears are controlling you today?
? Are they the same fears from the past or are they new?
? How do these fears hold you back?

So much of the juiciest parts of our lives happen when we take action to overcome our fears, but first we need to identify what they are. With mindfulness, NLP, and other techniques, you can break through the fear to live the life you’ve been only thinking about! How amazing is that? Oftentimes what controls us are only the pictures and projections that go on in our HEADS. Yup, not even reality 😉

As hard as it may be, take some time to get comfortable with your fears! After all, they aren’t going anywhere until we bring them to the light… ❤

Powerful Questions Pt. 3

It’s day 3 of Powerful Questions, has anything come up for you?

Regardless of whether or not big, hard answers have been revealed, don’t fret.. trust me, your mind is now primed and thinking of creative solutions for YOU.

I absolutely love today’s set of questions because it’s all around RISKS. So scary but oh so good for your soul! Here we go:

? Where in my life can I take more risks?
? What is one thing I have always wanted to do or try but never did?
? How can I let loose, just a little, so that I can fully be present for the moment instead of thinking of a future moment?

I’ve always found that the one thing you might be nervous about trying or doing ALWAYS comes back to remind you. Take some time to honor the nudge and discover what it can reveal for you.

In other news Seattle is going through a MAJOR dry streak and I am melting! Usually I can handle all sorts of heat and humidity but this heat has me thinking of all sorts of ice cold beverages and delicious desserts. So of course I made myself a chocolate horchata milkshake! A little too good to be dangerous 😉

Powerful Questions Pt. 2

Day 2 is here! In an effort to create space for powerful questions I wanted to continue exploring prompts around creation and how we can show up in the world in a more authentic way. Are you ready?

? In what ways do I diminish my light?
? Is it around certain people or activities?
? How can I show up in this world and be even more of my authentic self?
? Why is this important for me?
? What am I afraid of?

Notice whether anything new came up for you or whether there is a specific pattern that keeps coming up. Whether you believe in the stars, the moon, or your vitamix these are all powerful questions you can use to check in with yourself from time to time ???

And remember, no judgement… only awareness is needed to make positive change. Judgement only keep you stuck in the place you want to move away from.

In other news a dear friend of mine had gotten some tickets to Bruno Mars last minute and invited me to go along for the ride, and boy was I excited! Speaking of light, Bruno thank you for your magic, your voice, and for sharing a part of your light. Still can’t believe that was all live.. ???

Excited to share Day 3 in our series of Powerful Questions relating to your creative side and how you show up in this beautiful world.

Powerful Questions Pt. 1

This week I wanted to do something a little special.

Have you ever found that asking powerful questions can help clarify thoughts and feelings? They certainly have for me, and with the New Moon in Leo (first of two!) I wanted to honor this new energy by asking a few powerful questions everyday this week.

These questions will relate to how you honor your own creative forces, and how you show up in the world. I don’t know about you but my own creative energies have been on FIRE lately!

Most importantly, with deep reflection it may even reveal how you actually WANT to show up in the world. Make sure you spend at least 5 minutes asking your deeper self to show you your most authentic and honest answers. Center the mind and allow time for self reflection.

Are you ready?

? Where have I been neglecting my creative outlets?
? When have I noticed my pulse racing a little thinking of doing something new?
? If I have, what are the qualities of these activities?
? Are they entrepreneurial? Activity based? Connection based? Health based? Art based?

(Pictures of the beautiful Wishing Tree nestled in the neighborhood of Capital Hill. You should check it out if you’re in the area ?)

I did these myself and absolutely LOVED the process. For me, my love for photography has been coming back in ways I never expected! I’ve been making it a point to bring my professional camera along with me because I never know what I might find inspiring while meeting up with a friend. In addition, I have been deeply considering creating a women’s group in the North Seattle area. I’m still working through the main concept and what intentions I’d like for this special group, but thought I would share with you all some of my creative ideas that have come up in the last couple of days and weeks.

How about you? Any big truths or hints come up for you? You’d be surprised at what comes up if you really honor the time to reflect ✏❤?
